Life in the Lakes Region, especially in the summer, is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. But it’s not just us humans who can have adventures around town. What better way to spend your down time than with your beloved pup!
Below are some of our favorite dog-friendly locations around the Lakes Region so you two can adventure out together!
Twin Barns Brewing Co. – Meredith, NH
I have to admit, I have not yet been able to check out this place but—from what I hear, it’s a MUST. Dogs and their humans can relax, unwind and play games in the Beer Garden. Let us know if you have visited Twin Barns Brewing Co and what makes this your favorite place to unwind with your pooch!
WOW Trail – Laconia, NH
It’s always nice to change up your scenery from time to time. A local gem for us is the WOW Trail. You can enjoy a nice run or walk along the trail with your pooch. CiCi particularly likes cooling off in Lake Winnisquam after a long run with her dad. You’ll want to be sure to bring your camera to snap some pics of the unlimited scenic views you’ll see along the way. After you’ve enjoyed your workout you can swing into Wayfarer Coffee Roasters Lakeport Cafe, which is located right off the trail in Lakeport, to grab a sourdough toast and espresso.
EKAL Activity Center – Meredith, NH
We all need to relax and unwind from time to time. This 100% includes our dogs. If you’ve never tried canoeing with your pup before, then I highly recommend EKAL Activity Center. I first visited EKAL Activity Center when I attended a stand up paddle boarding workshop. While dogs are not allowed on the stand up paddle boards, they are allowed in the kayaks and canoes. Make sure both you and your dog use a life preserver (you’ll have to bring one for your dog) in case having your furry friend along makes your boat ride a bit more tippy than when you are on your own. I’m sure you and your pooch will have a wonderful time.
Mills Falls at the Lake – Meredith, NH
Thankfully travel is getting easier for pet parents. From dog-friendly hotels to awesome pet lodges, if you need to go on a well-earned staycation, Mills Falls at the Lake is the place to go. They offer a few different dog friendly rooms and four-legged guests receive a goodie bag with treats, toys, beds, and bowls at check-in. My favorite part about them is their location right on Lake Winnipesaukee. They are central to downtown Meredith where dogs are welcome at many local businesses and you can enjoy a walk on the boardwalk along the lake. My husband and I spent our wedding night here and it was a wonderful retreat right in our local area.
